FC Halifax Town will put on a performance at Ryton in the FA Cup first qualifying round on Saturday.
That's the view of stand-in skipper Steve Payne who is still smarting from Tuesday's embarrassing league defeat at Mossley.
The Shaymen will go into the game as favourites against their Northern League hosts.
But that is clearly based on reputation rather than form with Town currently struggling to make an impact in the Unibond League Division One North.
"Saturday will be a tough game - but what games aren't tough for us at the moment?" said Payne, who has worn the armband for every Town game so far as Tony Barras recovers from injury.
"Make no bones about it, we will be fired up - as we are for every game.
"We will put on a performance - that's the bottom line.
"The most important thing on Saturday is what Halifax Town does.
"We have to react and bounce back from Tuesday's game.
"We have to make sure we are in the hat at Saturday teatime.
"That's the most important thing."
Town could not have asked for a better start at Mossley, taking the lead after just 25 seconds when Adam Morning bagged his first goal for the club.
But it was downhill from there, culminating in a shocking second half display.
"Tuesday was incredibly disappointing," said Payne. "We got a flying start then let a sloppy goal in but overall did okay in the first half.
"We never really came out of the changing rooms for the second half.
"There seems to be no passion at the moment and there is no belief in ourselves.
"We are very under confident at the moment which is getting to us.
"But there are no excuses - we didn't play well."
The healing process started almost as soon as the final whistle went at Seel Park and will continue this evening.
"We are under no illusions as to the task that lies ahead," said Payne.
"We had a heart to heart after the game to try to get rid of some of the frustration and we will have another go tonight."
While Town's players have disappointed, the fans have continued to back the side in their numbers.
And Payne acknowledged their continuing support at Mossley where the crowd was more than 300 up on the season average.
"I feel terrible for the fans who have been absolutely superb again," he said.
"They have travelled on a Tuesday night after a day when it has thrown it down.
"And we can't thank them enough."
HALIFAX Town went down 4-2 at Silsden in the first qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup last night.
