TOWN boss Neil Aspin admitted his side's FA Trophy win at Shepshed Dynamo had been easier than he had expected.
James Dean scored twice with Steve Payne, Nicky Gray and Kevin Sanasy also on target as the Shaymen crushed their Unibond One South hosts 5-0 to cruise into the third qualifying round.
"I didn't expect it to be as comfortable as it was," he said. "But, truthfully, especially in the second half it is probably the easiest game we have had this season.
"Shepshed were on a bit of a good run so it is credit to the players that they have done the job so comfortably."
The tie was over as a contest by half time as the Shaymen built up a 3-0 lead.
And Aspin was especially impressed by the opening goal, scored by Dean after a sweeping pass from Scott Phelan and a pin point Nicky Gray cross.
"That spell killed the game off and you won't see a better goal than the James Dean header," he said.
"It was fantastic play - a really good standard."
Substitute Sanasy completed the route 12 minutes from time with a well-taken goal from a Mark Peers cross.
And Aspin was pleased that the former Worksop man had bagged his first goal in a Town shirt.
"He has had a few chances previously, but he stuck it away well," said the Shay chief.
"He can see the players in front of him are performing well and the number of goals they have scored between them shows that the competition is quite hard to get in the team."
Dean's double took his tally for the week to four and for the season to an impressive 17.
"Dean has 17 goals this season and has looked strong and powerful this week," said Aspin.
"I haven't set him a target - but if he gets a goal a game I'd be happy with that!"
FC Halifax Town have been named Unibond One North Club of the Month for October - their third award in a row.
Neil Aspin's side recorded seven wins during the month with their only defeat the 1-0 FA Cup reverse against Wrexham
