Table tennis: Revenge brings double delight

Embassy A avenged a 6-3 loss to inflict Woodfield Warriors' first defeat of the season in Division One of the Pennine Tool Hire Halifax Table Tennis Summer League.
Peter Kirby and Tony Boyd achieved superb maximums in the section's top match.

Embassy's third team stretched their lead at the top of Division Two to six points due to their 7-2 victory against Stott's Marauders.

Hugh Chambers gave the Keighl
ey-based team an excellent start with a 4-11, 11-3, 6-11, 6-11 success against Steve Hanson before Derek Briggs who doubled the match score with a straight three games 9-11, 5-11, 8-11 against Rod Veal.

Donald Stott pulled a set back as he won in five closely fought games 11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 8-11, 11-7 against Steve Crossland before Chambers won his second set 10-12, 5-11, 8-11 against Veal, making the match score 3-1 in Embassy's favour.

Hanson beat Crossland 11-6, 4-11, 14-12, 11-5 with the remaining four sets won by Embassy, Chambers and Briggs claiming maximums and Crossland winning his only set against the unlucky Veal.
