JIM Vince will take charge of his first Halifax training session tonight with just two weeks to prepare a side for the opening friendly against Bury.
The club has yet to announce any signings due to the delay in finding a new name for the team which will play in the Unibond League Division One North.

But while the new Shay boss knows he is in a race against time he is confident that his side will be ready for the big kick off against Bamber Bridge on August 16.

"It will be good to get out with the players," said Vince, who is holding the session behind closed doors due to the contract sitiuation.

"I know we a are a little bit behind other teams but we have to catch up - and we will do."

Not all the players Vince has targeted will be at this evening's session but he hopes to be able to start unveiling members of his squad by the end of the week.

"I am not going to over elaborate with the squad," he said. "And some of the players are still on holiday.

"It will probably be next Tuesday before the whole squad trains together for the first time."

With the announcement of the fixtures Vince and his players will have something to concentrate on as they get to work.

And he was happy enough to have been handed a home game on opening day against a Bamber Bridge side that was in the play-offs at the end of last season, losing 3-2 to FC United of Manchester who went on to gain promotion.

"Bamber Bridge have got some good players and will be strong contenders," said Vince.

"But it will be good for our team and the supporters to sample the atmosphere of the league in the first game and a chance for the team to bond with the fans."

Wont be a walk in the park will it?

But we at least seem to have a manager who talks like a human being.

I liked CW, but he was just like a robot sometimes (hope JV doesn't turn out like that!)

JV does not look like a manager, are you sure its not the teacher that Rosie was knocking off in Corrie ?
