Young Bulls to Koppy Craig?

BRADFORD props Neil Cherryholme and Matt James will both be looking to "do a Koppy" with Halifax in 2009.
The 21 year olds will swap Odsal for Fax this winter, James on a season-long loan deal and Cherryholme on a permanent move.
And, according to Cherryholme, both are aiming to follow in the footsteps of another young Bull, Craig Kopczak, whose blockbusting six week loan spell at the beginning of this year kick started a career that had looked like stagnating.
"Craig went to Halifax after being at a similar standard to me and Matt and he went back to Bradford a better player and has never looked back really," said Cherryholme, who has been with the Bulls since turning professional as a schoolboy.
"Having Matt here as well might hinder me, because he will probably take a spot away from me, but I know we will both want to do well and it's not a bad shout for either of us, trying to do what Koppy did
"It's a big step for me, leaving Bradford after five years, but I'm hoping to rise to the challenge.
"I played National Two on loan at Keighley when I was 19, but National One is a big step up for me from playing Super League under 21s.
"The speed of the game won't be a problem, because when you're playing the top sides like Leeds and Saints at 21s it's really quick.
"But the quality of the players across the board is higher in National League One and the size of the people you're coming up against is different too."
Cherryholme never cracked the first team at Odsal, turning down a full time contract in order to continue an off-field path that will eventually lead to a teaching career.
And the former Dudley Hill junior believes his move to Fax will help him make the best of both worlds.
"I was offered a full time deal at Bradford when I was 16, but I wanted to go to university so I carried on at school and stayed there part time," said Cherryholme.
"If you train at anything you get better, so if I had taken that option I might have made the first team.
"But I chose to pursue both things and I'm happy I did that.
"I want to push myself as far as I can in both my career and my rugby league."
