Calderdale's parks are hosting a range of events. Beechwood Park will be holding "Syrups, Crumbles and Pies" on Saturday at 1pm. The one mile trail will be led by Jaqui and walkers will learn which wild foods can be turned into delicious desserts and tempting treats.
For walking enthusiasts Saturday will also see a longer walk taking place with Mick Chatam. The 5-6 mile route will be starting at St. John's in the Wilderness Church, Cragg Vale at 1pm.

On Sunday, Ogden Water will be offering storytellers, crafts
and walks to entertain you. Activities will take place between 11am and 3pm so why not pack a picnic to enjoy amongst the beautiful scenery.

Wellhome Park in Brighouse will be showcasing Clifton and Lightcliffe brass band on Sunday. The performance starts at 2pm and will consist of traditional brass band music. If that doesn't appeal to you then why not pay a visit to People's Park, Halifax where Bavarian oom pah band Herr Jens will be playing. The 10 piece band will be playing in the bandstand from 2pm till 4.30pm.

Monday will give family members the chance to test their knowledge at Ogden Water's Nature Trail Quiz. The trail, which will be open from 11am until 3pm, requires you to follow the clues and collect nature's treasure along the way.

Eureka! Children's museum, Halifax will be open from 10am till 5pm throughout the bank holiday with all of the usual exhibitions as well as daily shows by 'Fred's Flying Circus' and the 'Clowning Around' attraction.

Shibden Hall will be open from 10am till 5pm on Saturday and Sunday and 12pm till 5pm on Bank Holiday Monday. The attractions at Shibden Park will be open as normal.

Music
Shantstock, two day music festival takes place at The Shant pub, Holmfield, Halifax on Saturday and Sunday.

Bands playing include The Shirt, Hoochie Coochie Bruce, Fevertrees and Icon 13 as well as DJ Rattty.

The two day event follows the success of last year's one day festival. The event will run from 12pm to 10pm each day with proceeds split between the Motor Neurone Disease Association, Cystic Fibrosis Society and Wood Bank School, Luddenden.

Doghouse Puzzle Fest will be held at Puzzle Hall Inn, Sowerby Bridge. Saturday's bands are Air Cav, Dirty Fakirs, Murmours of Tension, Rook and the Ravens, Spokes, and State of Error. Playing on Sunday will be It's a Buffalo, The Tragics, Garron Frith, Kathryn Edwards, Edmund Cottam and Louis Scott. Entry to this event is free and it will take place from 3.30pm to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The Piece Hall Music Festival takes place on Monday between 12 noon and 5.30pm.

The seven bands performing include I.E; The Captives; State of Error; Mapel Fire; Desilva; Anola Gray; Imperdio.

Entry is free.
The Trades Club is holding a charity music festival running from Saturday to Monday.

The bands, which will be playing from 5pm until late each day, include The Owter Zeds

Widgykeff; Dirty Fakirs and Websters Interiors.
Tickets are £5 on the door (per day) or £12 for the weekend. The weekend will raise money for the Disaster Emergency Committee
Swimming Pools

HALIFAX swimming pool, Elland swimming pool, Sowerby Bridge swimming pool and Todmorden swimming pool will all be open from 9am until 4pm on Bank Holiday Monday for general swim only. North Bridge Leisure Centre will open from 9am till 5pm on Monday for use of the gym. Weekend programmes and opening times are unaffected.
