GETTING a good view of the stage should be much easier when work is completed on new seating at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax.
About two thirds of the seats in the stalls will be raked, rising to a maximum of nearly 3ft.
Construction work should be completed by September and people will get the chance to see the alterations during a heritage open day.
Audiences will experience the benefits at the first play of the season, My Brilliant Divorce, starring comedian Dillie Keane, from Grumpy Old Women, and later in the month, folk singer Kate Rusby will perform her classic hits, together with new songs from her latest album Awkward Annie.
The theatre was built in 1901 as a concert hall and was converted into a municipal theatre in the 1960s.
The sound and lighting control desk is to be put into a new enclosure and there will be new carpets.
