IN August 2007 Lee Bridge Recycling Depot brought in safety measures whereby you had to reverse into a bay to unload your vehicle, then use the green walkways to put your rubbish into the skips.

I wrote to Your say in 2007 and May 2008 saying what a good safety idea this was, but it was not being adhered to due to the lack of employees implementing the rule.

Now, since Sita have taken over the depot, spending thousands upon thousands of pounds on new wagons, skips, and so on, they don't seem to care about safety. Almost every vehicle drives in forward and the driver and passengers get out and take their rubbish out of their vehicle and proceed willy-nilly by the shortest route to the designated skip, whilst the Sita employees stand around not advising.

Sita, spend a few more pounds on safety - it will be worth it!

Well done Sita,we now have a company that uses its brains and does not pamper to the brainless Health & Safety brigade,I unloaded my waste in record time, instead of waiting for all those useless drivers unable to reverse into the designated places.

Well said Scouse. 'bout time we intelligent adults were allowed to take responsibility for our own actions. I consider myself capable of making an informed decision regarding whether or not it's safe to walk across the waste site. I don't need some jobsworth in a hi-viz to tell me
