Belgrave Close,
Claremount,
Halifax.
MUCH concern is being shown over our heating and lighting costs, and rightly so.

Recent price increases have really hit both the poorer citizens and most of our wonderful pensioners.

Green campaigners and many polititions are against both nucle
ar and coal energy. But they need to show caution; North Sea gas is running out and we are too dependent on unreliable supplies from Russia and European countries that purchase cheap gas from us in the summer due to the fact we have no storage facilities such as they do.

They refuse to sell us sufficient quantities in the winter and what they sell us back is at a very much increased price.

So nuclear power has a major part to play and, remember, we are sitting on rich seams of quality coal which would burn cleanly. By using this supply of energy most of our known serious shortage could be overcome and at a lower price.

Any knee-jerk condemnation of all fossil fuels is a luxury this energy-starved nation cannot afford.

Further considerable increases in gas and electricity prices are due in the autumn. So let's be prepared to use other fuels.

The best way to keep power costs down is to use less energy. Something we will all have to do in time.

Barry Leotard - you're absolutely right in your comment. We have to look at how we waste energy and do something about it - for example standby buttons on TV's.

Personally I think every-one should be encouraged to have a solar panel or wind-turbine on their property, and the Govt support this with tax credits or cash subsidy towards the cost.

What a load of nonsense, The reason energy prices have risen is because the current Labour government have allowed the energy companies to make billions of pound in profit, Labour are happy because the get taxes from the billions.

Labour do not care a dime about the ordinary working person, they hate you.

Ron,just imagine how hard all the Pensioners would have had to cope,if it had not been for this Labour Governments consideration, in relation to Winter Fuel payments being triple quadrupled by Gordon Brown, to alleviate all of their worries,if the useless Cameron ever wins office, just watch all of his cutbacks in relation to the elderly !!!!
