Newton Park,
Brighouse.
THE other day I had the misfortune to drive past the schools on Finkle Street, Brighouse, shortly before noon.
Cars were parked on both sides of the road, completely ignoring any of the yellow or white no-parking lines. This left room for only one vehicle to pass. When two vehicles met one had to reverse until space could be found to allow passing.
What is the good of having parking restrictions if they are not enforced? Traffic officers should visit and hand out a few fines, then maybe the message would get accross and the parking restrictions be observed, thus allowing free traffic flow along the road.

This is not unique to Finkle St, go anywhere there are schools and you find the same. On Friday, I was driving through Queensbury just before 3.30, trying to get to the pet shop. There were so many cars parked, presumably picking their children up from Russle Hall school that I had to drive away and return to the shop on Saturday. Not only were they parked illegally, they were even making it impossible to turn into the shop's car park. Presumably, as this is a village school, these parents and children live in the village. Why do they have to drive to the school to collect children. What is wrong with walking. No wonder we have so many obese children - and a break down in family values - so many opportunities for talking with and therefore strengthening bonding, is missed when children are driven to and from school. In terms of older pupils - don't even get me started on the dire parking that goes on at 3.30 at the school base in North Halifax!!

David, the day is unfortunately coming, when Caldedale Parking Services will throw their hands up in horror, when some parking miscreant is going to cause a childs fatality outside some school, but hopefully all the people that have complained to Calderdale Traffic Officers, will have their say in any subsequent legal prosecutions about these non-enforceable useless Officers.
