I was disturbed to read that Councillor Stephen Baines is concerned that the revenue from issuing parking fines is not the cash-cow he thought it would be.

Now, simple me thought it would be a matter for rejoicing that all those motorists are paying regard to the yellow lines, zig-zags, no waiting, no loading signs and all the other paraphernalia littering our roads.

But, no, Councillor Baines smells a rat! He claims that scores of motorists are getting away with it on the school run and he hasn't enough foot soldiers to pursue them.

Well the only advice I can offer is don't employ them yet as the school holidays don't end until September 1.

When everybody is wise to parking wardens, then the next stage of George Orwells vision is parking cameras & VNPR that parking attendants control & a fine automatically issued to the car owner. So you won't even be able to use the Loading Only/Disables spot on a Sunday for 30 seconds to get money from a cashpoint without getting a fine through the post.

But, hey, as quoted on the bacj of your parking sticker "SHE COULD BE THE REASON YOU DON'T GET STUCK IN TRAFFIC".

Time for the revolution
