Lots of unanswered questions still over failings of Ridings

I would like to respond to Megan Swift's letter ("Ridings resources are bearing fruit", Your say September 22).
Yes Stuart Todd has done a fantastic job at the school and deserves a lot more credit than he has so far been given.
I would like to know why it took for the school to be put in special measures and a decision for it to be closed before extra resources were given to the school. Was there a hidden agenda? Was it a deliberate act on the council's part to give them the chance of building an academy? Just how long has this "academy" been in the pipeline?
As a parent whose child has just entered the school system at nursery level I am very concerned about her future education when she reaches the age of 11.
Yes, The Ridings was failing, but why was it failing? Was it lack of resources? Was it the quality of education delivered?
Whatever it was, Stuart Todd has clearly found and is fixing the problem; so why are we still talking of closing the school? Would it not be a good idea to amalgamate the two schools forming an upper and lower site that would also continue the "Christian ethos" that the Diocese so desperately want?
I went along to the first meeting held at Holy Trinity School about the academy. Carole White said that anyone could write down any questions they had and they would get a reply. So I left a question and eventually I got a reply but not a reply to the question I asked, just a vague letter.
Does Megan Swift not realise that before this academy is built, parents and pupils are going to be worried about the level of education their children are getting? Can we at least keep The Ridings open until the academy is built, giving the children of North Halifax their right to choose their school?
