SO finally the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Ian Blair has done the right thing – resigned – albeit under pressure. I heard it recently on the news, that a senior office in the Los Angeles Police Department, may be appointed as a senior office (maybe not Commissioner) in the Metropolitan Police.
The day that the LAPD has anything to teach our police is the day we may as well give up as a civilised nation.
Does anybody not remember the Rodney King beatings by the LAPD and the riots that followed? Since then the LAPD has been on trial time after time for the beating of suspects (many in handcuffs).
Can you imagine any US police department allowing a British police office a senior position in their force. Unthinkable. All US police officers must be a US citizen. Is a LAPD senior office going to relinquish his US citizenship? I think not.
The Metropolitan Police had a photo of the terrorist they were after on July 22, 2005. They did not pass it on to the SO19 specialist firearms unit.
