I WAS interested in your recent item about local UFOs ("'Rumbling UFO spotted over town", Courier, July 14).

It reminded me of a couple of reports in the paper some 30 years ago.

One referred to a UFO that had been reported at the top of the Ainleys.

I seem to remember that police officers saw it and one of them contacted our local airport to inquire if anything had shown on its radar screen. They were told that nothing was on the screen.

Another incident concerned a strange "craft" seen above Pellon Lane.

A witness followed it as far as Mount Tabor, where he drew it to the attention of a local farmer, but the farmer was more concerned about finding a missing cow.
