SO Gordon Brown now wants to jump on the bandwagon following our success in the Beijing Olympics. He not only wants a Great Britain football team in 2012 London Olympics, but another Scot to be in charge, namely that well known Labour die-hard, Sir Alex Ferguson, after concreting over most of our playing fields, failing to provide for our crumbling sports halls and swimming pools which are closing by the hour owing to lack of funding.
It's amazing how dour Gordon has suddenly become interested in British sports (at least old Teflon played a decent game of tennis). This latest show of interest along with a fading Golden Balls is nothing more than a sham to try and increase his popularity in a fading political career. Surely enough Scots in Parliament sending this country to the dogs is all we need right now. Stick to politics Gordon, leave the sporting side to people who know what they are doing.

As for a Great Britain football team it will never get off the ground, God knows the grossly overrated pontificating England footballers are bad enough, but I cannot see any improvement coming by including the Scots, Welsh and Irish in a Great Britain team, I am afraid you are on the way out Gordon and all this ideology will do nothing to further a fading career.

that is totaly unfair, Gordon Brown indeed John Major put into sports more cash than any other time in history and worked with Manchester to bring the games and worked with London.

team GB want a football team as we are leading the games some associations oppose it.

The proposal is to put in Britains most successfull manager, not because he is Scottish but successfull.

Donald this year your writings have become peevish whats wrong?

As someone born in Scotland and living in Yorkshire since I was two with and English mother and regarding myself as British, I find the tone of this letter racist - it is implying that Scots should be second class citizens and should not be regarded as equal in this United Kingdom and should always be subservient to someone with pure English blood - This letter would not be published if it was whipping up hate against any other group than the Scots and is suggesting anyone with a drop of Scottish blood in there vanes should be a second class citizen.

No,bm4260,what is racist is the fact that The English pay for certain things that Scots get for free. This is a fact regarding education and healthcare so take the chip off your shoulder.

Brigantes - I am commenting on the the letter that implies that in a United Kingdom the writer seems to believe that Scots should be less equal and all matters concerning the administration of affairs for the WHOLE of the UK. Can I also point out that the English get benefits the Scots don't that the Scots bitterly complain about. I suggest you get hold of some of the news media produced for consumption in Scotland and you will realize that the media in England is very selective on what it reports as is the media in Scotland, both are guilty of promoting this mutual hate on both sides of the border - devolution has meant that different choices have been made on the pot of money available to each region -however I get sick of hearing that when it comes to UK matters as a whole some of us are less equal than others.

We had the opportunity of having a tier of government that would have been equivelent to the Scottish Parlament but it was deemed an unnecesary tier of government.

The scots get nothing free in Education And Healthcare that we pay for, they merely pay for it a different way.
