Now we've lost control of our own borders

Rochdale Road,
Greetland.
BRIAN Hanwell ("We need a more united Europe", Your say, May, 2), perhaps deliberately, completely missed the point of my previous letter ("Blame Europe for soaring crime", April 22), which was about who controls our borders, not as he construes, about immigration, which has been occurring since Neanderthal man moved north out of Africa.
In the past our elected Government had control of our borders; now, thanks to the EU, it is the unelected commissioners in Brussels who control our borders and who we can and can't deport.
That's the difference, as was made perfectly clear in my previous letter.
No wonder, then, that Brian Hanwell didn't want a referendum on the EU constitution, sorry treaty, because he knows what the result would have been.
Time, to take the rose-tinted glasses off, Brian; then you'll see and read more clearly.
Jack Shaw

I don't think he did miss the point, your poisonous words were only to spread fear, bending facts and figures to suit your own twisted agenda.
