Emscote Grove,
Savile Park,
Halifax.

FOLLOWING the recent brouhaha about misleading images, pictures, phone lines etc on TV and in the newspapers, I was a bit disappointed to see that the Courier has joined in.
Your otherwise excellent coverage of the demise of Halifax Town was rather spoiled by your front-page picture on Saturday of a "young town supporter left in tears".

How can this be? For a start he wasn't in tears and this is where the caption becomes misleading. The picture was obviously taken at the Shay at least a week before the news that creditors refused to accept a deal. There was no way anybody could have foreseen what was coming.

It would have been more appropriate to include the image of general manager Angie Firth on the front page rather than page two.

Keep reporting the facts not the fiction.

Ron Stanley

Sorry you disapproved, Mr Stanley. The picture was, in fact, taken as long ago as 2002, when Town were relegated. It was selected as it captured the right mood. – Editor.
