Postal voting leads to abuse
High Lees Road,

PAUL Hamer ("Why we must have postal voting", Your say, April 26) should not have been so quick to respond to my recent letter on postal voting ("Postal voting is so lazy!", April 19).
Already there have been over 14 serious fraud allegations over postal voting round the country and MPs have expressed great concern over this system of voting.
Postal votes hanging around until the count can and do lead to no end of tampering and abuse. This is not only a worry to the voting public but those standing in elections from any party.
My letter merely pointed out the concerns over everybody receiving postal votes when it isn't necessary and is a complete waste of money.
While the postal vote is handy for those who find it really difficult to vote in any other way, the majority should vote in the ballot box so as to help keep those who tamper with true democracy at bay.
Mr Hamer's letter infers that I am a spring chicken, and a selfish one at that, and that I should feel lucky I am able to vote through the ballet box.
Once again, wrong! I am past retirement age and in declining heath.
(Mrs) Heather Terry
