Jubilee Road,
Siddal,
Halifax.
SALLY Summer's letter headlined "I'm out of work and need help" (Your say, May 3) reminded me that it might not be a good idea to rely too much on Jobcentre Plus to point her into further suitable employment, because it is now just part of the tick-box culture.
It seems that it is very stressful to change from work to benefits or benefits to work, because anyone can find themselves for several weeks with no money, bills coming in and no resources.
I don't know if it is Govern-ment policy to discourage people to seek work or not when on jobseeker's allowance but sometimes it seems like it.
For my part I would close all Jobcentres Plus down and turn them into Government work centres, where real work, properly paid for, could be given to unemployed people which would be of real benefit to all.
I won't hold my breath because I read that MPs have awarded themselves another 25 per cent increase so we can see they are only interested in themselves and not in solving the real problems that blight society.
I wish Sally Summer a speedy exit from the tentacles of the Government institution she has just become acquainted with.

Has anyone actually ever found employment at a job centre?
