Use cash bonus to improve care

I WAS more than pleased to read your report headlined "Cash bonus for best care homes" (Courier, April 26).
While it is an incentive for more improvements in service and care, giving those in need a better lifestyle, I wonder how many of the homes will actually channel it to the residents or their needs.
Some elderly residents don't have any family who can stand up for them so they are at the mercy of the carers.
Perhaps time will show that things are changing. I believe for what the residents are charged, they should get a much better service and attitude, in some cases.
This £15-per-resident bonus is a good start for the future and should encourage the homes to do their best.
