Violence must bring long jail terms

"THEY hunted Alex down: vicious killers are caged for 20 years" (Courier August 15).

These vicious bullies and cowards deserve everything they get. I'm very sorry for Alex Holroyd's family that the sentences weren't much longer, considering the level of violence inflicted on him.

Such violent individuals, when caught and sentenced, need to be sent down for a very long time. The courts should realise we need sentences that reflect the volume of violence used, and this young man lost his life.

My heart goes out to his family.
