Vote for the consortium

I READ your article headlined "Shay fans get to vote" (Courier, May 30).
All credit to the Halifax Town Supporters' Trust members who have worked on the Plan B scheme to set up a supporters-run club should the consortium withdraw their interest.
It is no bad thing for members to vote on the issue because it collects information on what supporters opinions are.
However, even if the majority decision is in favour of Plan B, this should not be a mandate to ask the consortium members, David Bosomworth and Bobby Ham to "leave the arena".
The supporters' trust membership of around 230 represents only around 20 to 25 per cent of Town's hardcore support. What about the opinions of non-trust members who support Town?
I realise there have been many things to test our patience with the consortium but, like any business, the average customer is not privy to the inside workings of the company.
The legal blocking of Halifax Town coming out of administration means financial loss for everyone involved. This must surely include the consortium, big style.
The events of administration have been a severe blow but surely they have been a proper test of the consortium's genuineness. If they are still with us they must be worth supporting.
If Plan B has to become Plan A because it is the only option available, then so be it. However to dispense with the services of the consortium and the certainty of its financial backing and then set up another club so quickly, even at Unibond level, is simply too big a risk to take.
If it fails then who is responsible for the demise of the club? It's obvious, is it not? The trust is! Surely no one would want that to be the case.
The Halifax Town Supporters' Trust does a great job. It gives supporters a voice. Surely its best role now is to support the consortium to the best of its ability so that Halifax Town can start with a clean slate at the highest level possible with the best financial backing possible.
