The Crescent,
Stainland
I DON'T see the point in providing bus drivers with hi-tech watches ("Drivers go boldly into the atomic age", Courier, July 9).

For the second time in the last few weeks the 2.30pm Halifax to Huddersfield 537/538 bus has not turned up on a Sunday afternoon.

The Elland to Stainland service is only hourly so what I want to know is: if the bus doesn't run, where's the money coming from to pay for these watches?

Maybe it's coming from charging children to ride on school buses.

Eddie Pollard

Eddie the money comes from the bus company having the cheek to take the cash from metro for a West Yorkshire taxpayer subsidized service which is what the Standland service is and not providing that service. If first bus does not want to meet this commitment it should stop taking the money to provide the service from metro and metro should doc the monies provided to firstbus for the services it is committed to provide but does not
