A MAN found with over 2,000 indecent images of children on his computer has been jailed for 14 months.
Martin Ellis, 42, of Crabtree Street, Pellon, Halifax, admitted 21 counts of possessing indecent photographs of children on a number of devices at his home address.
In total, 2.249 images and six videos were found when he was arrested in November 2008.
Ellis, who has severe learning difficulties, not only viewed the images but also saved them to his computer so he could look at them again in the future.
Judge John Potter said during sentencing at Bradford Crown Court that the public demanded custodial sentence for offences of this kind.
"People like you indirectly cause the assault of children in the way in which these appalling images show," he said.
"Sentences in cases like this must act as a deterrent to stop this kind of behaviour from you and people like you," he said.
Ellis will be released on license in seven months and will be subject to a sexual offences order.
He has also been disqualified from working with children.
