THREE men have appeared in court over the slaughter of chickens at Sunnybank Farm, Royd Lane, Ripponden.
Farmer Frank Clay, 75, faces a string of charges relating to food hygiene and being involved in killing birds that were not stunned, which allegedly went ahead on his premises without a licence.

Mahmood Hussain, of Headfield Road, Dewsbury, is accused of causing unnecessary suffering to the chickens by slaughtering them without stunning them and Kamran Asif, of Slaithwaite Road, Dewsbury, is charged with assisting him on August 13 last year.

They were bailed and will appear before Calderdale magistrates again on Friday April 9.
