FINANCIAL help to encourage householders to save energy must be a Government priority, acccording to Calder Valley MP Chris McCafferty.
She joined Grand Designs host Kevin McCloud outside Parliament to raise awareness for the need for a green refurbishment programme covering the nation's 26 million homes.

He is leading The Grand Designs Great British Refurb Campaign aimed at tackling poorly insulated housing stock which would provide spin off benefits including lower energy bills, help with meeting climate change targets, and the creation of thousands of jobs.

"Tackling energy efficiency must be a priority for the Government," said Mrs McCafferty.

"Homeowners need more support and greater financial incentives to green their homes and unlock the potential energy and cost savings within their four walls, particularly in traditional terraced properties common in the Calder Valley, that are often harder to insulate than newer homes."
