A YOUNG mum is furious after rubbish was dumped in her back yard.
Claire Sykes returned home to find several upturned bags of litter including trays of perscription drugs, food, beer cans and clothes.

She thinks the rubbish could have been dumped by pranksters over Hallowe'en but is annoyed after being forced to clean up the mess herself.

Miss Sykes, 26, of Claremount Road, Claremount, Halifax, has a two-year-old daughter, Lacey.

She contacted Calderdale Council and an environmental health officer took an empty pill box with the name of a patient who, she was told, would be written to.

"But Environmental Health said it was my responsibility to get rid of the rubbish but to be careful because of rats," she said.

"I have a child. There is a nursery across the road and prescription drugs are in my yard having not been disposed off properly.

"It is appalling. My yard is full of someone else's rubbish and nobody is taking responsibility."

Miss Sykes reluctantly removed the rubbish with the help of her landlord.

Peter Broadbent, Calderdale's environmental protection manager, said: "We have visited Miss Sykes and are now taking action to identify the offender."

It is not the owner of the rubbish who should be sought, but the people who took the rubbish. There have been a number of incidents close to Claremount where bags have been removed, the items taken to a convenient spot for the people who removed the bags to go through them, taking what they want and leaving the rubbish scattered over waste ground and people's gardens. It is suspected, by the people who have had the bags removed, that those taking the bags are looking for items to allow identity theft. In most cases the police have been informed.

#2 Definately a search with intent of ID fraud.
I shred all such sensitive info to stop one route of making it easy. Trouble is there are too many other routes they can attack.

3# Exactly. Who does she think should clear it up.

I regularly get neighbours rubbish blown into my garden. Should I call in the Council, or ring the Courier about it?

Wait till it snows. She will be expecting the council to come and clear the path to her front door. "Well I didn't put it there........"

Oh my God are you all for real? Have you read there were drugs and she has a two year old?

I know Claire personally and she is not the pre Madonna you are writing about above comment *9 "She will be expecting the council to come and clear the path to her front door" where have you managed to get someone dumping rubbish in someone’s yard associated with clearing snow?? PATHETIC

Would you like it in your yard where your precious child plays in and amongst their outside toys?

She had to clear this away herself - any though had there of been hypodermic needles what this story would have read like?

I read these comments every day on here and never voice an opinion because it’s always something "nasty" that is said and I think it’s small minded and pathetic.

And yes this should be reported to the courier after all its a local issue that has clearly happened to a few other folk and as mentioned above could be linked to fraud.

Back in your greenhouses I say.
