GUESTS at the Courier's first literary luncheon will also be able to tuck into a hearty helping of detective fiction – at a bargain price.
The event Meet The Authors is being staged at bertie's Banqueting Rooms, Elland and features renowned author Marion Chesney, aka MC Beaton, creator of detective Hamish Macbeth and amateur sleuth Agatha Raisin.
As well as speaking to guests about her
career, Marion will also be signing and selling copies of the latest Hamish Macbeth title, Death of A Gentle Lady and the latest Agatha Raisin mystery, Kissing Christmas Goodbye.
The books normally retail at £18.99 and £6.99 respectively but signed copies will go on sale at the lunch at £14.99 and £4.99.
The event, sponsored by Finn Gledhill, will also feature BBC Look North's favourite weatherman and author Paul Hudson, whose books, Storm Force and Frozen In Time will also be on offer to guests at £9.99 instead of £16.99.
There is still chance to book a place at the lunch, on Thursday, May 22, from 11.15am onwards, when Paul Hudson will open the event by signing copies of his books.
Tickets, priced £23.50 per person or £210 per table of 10, are on sale at the Courier office, King Cross Street, Brighouse Echo, West Park Street, Hebden bridge Times, Crown Street and Todmorden News, Fielden Square.
Bookings can also be made by ringing with credit/debit card details 01422 260358.
