IN his trademark bright shirt and chunky gold jewellery darts legend Bobby George challenged Calderdale amateurs to a game of arrows – but he left his candelabra at home.
Bobby, or the King of Darts, famed for carrying a candelabra to tournaments, played 16 people at the Claremount Club, Belgrave Avenue, Claremount, Halifax.

Club steward Pete Cartledge said he was "over the moon" to have the two-times World Championship runner-up at the club, where Halifax Premier Darts League is played every Monday.

He said: "We were so happy to have him here. More than 100 people turned out to see him."

Bobby, 62, said: "I always hope an old granny will come out and beat me.

"One of the best things about darts is being able to put on a show like this. I once met Steve Redgrave and he said 'I wish I could do that, but you can't bring a boat into a pub, can you?'"
