RESIDENTS are organising a demonstration over the lack of bus services in Rastrick.
Rastrick Bridge End Community Action Group has already saved the village health centre from closure.

Now it has vowed to step up its campaign to restore a bus service to the Thornes Park Estate after services were withdrawn and routed away from the area.

Chairman Adrian Hartshorn said a protest would be held on October 27 at 11am at the junction of Thornhill Road and Lillands Lane.

He said: "The protest will highlight that although the 548, 549 and 570 pass near Thornes Park Estate, Metro will not re-route a bus to serve this large estate with a majority of elderly tenants," said Mr Hartshorn.

The group will also ask Tesco to re-route the supermarket town centre bus twice a week to Thornes Park Estate.

Mr Hartshorn said support for better bus services would be sought from politicians and local sister action groups, Carr Green Community Action Group, and Field Lane All Residents Group.

Maybe they would still have a bus service if the local scroats had not stoned the buses that used to do that route.
