A FAMILY were counting their lucky stars today after a car ploughed into the front of their home.
The blue Ford Fiesta missed 13-year-old Demi Blackburn by inches.

The drama happened last night in Heathmoor Park Road, Illingworth, Halifax, when the Fiesta hurtled off the road and into the house wall, narrowly missing the garage where Demi was feeding her guinea pigs.

Mum Nina Blackburn, who was in the house at 5pm when the crash happened, said: "The garage door was wide open and if it wasn't for the wall and our car in the drive my daughter would have been killed.

"I was in the kitchen when it happened and we just heard a huge bang and everything lifted off the floor.

"I could hear Demi crying but couldn't get to her because rubble had been pushed right into the house.

"We were trapped until a neighbour helped prise us out.

"We were very scared and absolutely furious.

"The front of the house is propped up with wood, our front path and wall are ruined and my car is in a real state. You have to see it to believe it."

The Fiesta is thought to have hit another car turning into a driveway before careering into the house.

Its woman driver and three young passengers were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Police, firefighters and specialist rescue teams attended and spent several hours removing the embedded vehicle from the house.

Watch manager Michael Smith, of Illingworth fire station, said: "The family were all in shock and the daughter was really shaken.

"The car was very close to going into the garage. It could have been very nasty and a different story."
