SCHOOLGIRL Bethany Brooke is hoping to be part of the 2012 London Olympics.
Bethany, 16, of Bradley Court, Greetland, was the youngest of 15 dancers who took part in the launch of a Cultural Olympiad in Leeds.
The olympiads are part of a four-year, UK-wide programme of culture which will run until the end of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. Each host city is taking part and the first open weekend saw 500 events across the country, including Leeds and Bradford.
Bethany, a sixth-form student at Brooksbank School, Elland, was chosen to take part in Dancing with Rhinos, a performance that combined dance and rugby moves. It was choreographed by Sharon Watson, a Leeds Metropolitan University MA student who is best known as ex-Gladiator Phoenix.
She now wants to take the performance around the UK and even hopes the group will play a part in the 2012 games.
Bethany, who dances at the Pam Strickland and Zoe Cook Theatre School in Halifax, said the blend of dance and rugby gave her the opportunity to try new moves and steps.
"The idea was that it told the story of a rugby match."
Three hundred people, including her parents, Jayne and Malcolm, and sister Laura watched the show.
