Two cars slid off an icy road and went down a banking off Oldham Road, Rishworth.
Elland firefighters were called to the accident at 4.30pm yesterday (Tuesday). No-one was injured.

Earlier yesterday the driver of the blue Rover pictured right had a lucky escape when his car struck a telegraph pole and flipped on to its side.

No other vehicles were involved and the driver suffered only minor injuries in the crash in Burnley Road, Cote Hill, Halifax, which happened just before 9am.

Courier reader Oliver Gallanders was quick to take a snap on his mobile phone as he passed the scene.

"He skided on ice and spun 180 degrees into lampost," said Mr Gallanders.

The icy roads caused problems for motorists elsewhere, with a 6-car shunt in Halifax causing delays yesterday morning - click here to read more.

Oh here we go again. I live above Burnley Road on a road that is not always gritted. However, it was yesterday. I got down there fine.
I got onto Burnley Road and I skidded abit so I slowed down! How fast must they have been going to turn their car over, surely they cant just blame that on the ice?!?

Exactly racheybabes.
People ought to know - cold weather, frost, ice, SLOW down a bit. Be a bit careful.... I find this always helps when the roads are frozen.

Well out of personal experience (I am in the business) the percentage of women drivers making claims on their insurance due to icy weather tends to increase.
Women in general maybe more careful than male drivers but they are less adaptable to changing weather conditions.

Just imagine if people drove to the conditions and accepted responsibility for their own stupidity. Oh well, we can dream.
