A MAN who stabbed the brother of murdered Elland man Billy Khan during a street brawl has been jailed for 11 years.
Kayshan Farooq, 29, admitted attempting to murder Yusuf Khan, 30, on August 29 last year.
Farooq, of Langdale Street, Elland, who was initially on trial for the offence in May, dramatically changed his plea half way through the proceedings and admitted his guilt.
His uncle, Miftah Ul-Haq, 40, of Elizabeth Street, Elland, was convicted by a jury of murdering Billy and given a life sentence.
Bradford Crown Court heard that violence flared at Poplar Court, Elland, as there had been animosity between the Khan brothers and Farooq's family.
Yusuf was stabbed in the chest during the fracas and as he tried to run away, Farooq pursued him and stabbed him in the buttock.
Jailing Farooq, the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Stephen Gullick, said: "Those who take knives on to the street and use them in offences such as this must expect to receive substantial sentences of imprisonment."
He commended the investigating officers in the case.
