THE case against Coun Zafar Iqbal-Din who was arrested in March as part of an investigation into allegations of money laundering has been dropped.
He was interviewed by West Yorkshire Police and bailed while investigators made more inquiries.
"I am pleased there is to be no further action," said Coun Iqbal-Din.
"When you haven't done anything wrong it is very worrying."
The councillor, of St Augus-tine's Terrace, Halifax, admitted to being one of about 15 aquaintances who loaned a man money towards a substantial deposit for a property purchase.
He stressed the investigation was unconnected with his council activities and said police became involved due to concerns about his friend's activities.
He is due for re-election next year and was dropped as a member of the council's Labour group as soon as he was arrested.
"I will be having talks with the group about rejoining as soon as possible," he said.
Police confirmed the case had been dropped against Mr Iqbal-Din.
