TRIBUTES have poured in for Chris Camplin, with tearful friends saying he died doing what he loved.
Throughout the weekend, friends and relatives of Mr Camplin, of Hove Edge, Brighouse, laid masses of flowers and hung a motorbike jacket at the junction of Garden Road and Halifax Road, Brighouse, where the 28-year-old died on Friday.
The morning after his death, more than 30 tearful friends and relatives gathered at the scene before heading to Mr Camplin's favourite pub, the Red Rooster in Brighouse, to have a drink in his memory.
Lyndsey Kirby, 24, who had regularly gone on motorbike trips with Mr Camplin and his girlfriend Claire, said: "Chris was the best guy you could ever meet. He was the life and soul of the party.
"He was very well known and very popular.
"The night it happened we all stayed together, crying and talking about him like he was still in the room, even though he had gone.
"It is such a shock that he is dead. I don't know when it will sink in."
Paul Hopkins, a friend of more than 15 years, said: "We just wanted to come together and remember Chris in our own way.
"He loved bikes and he lived for that bike.
"He died doing what he loved."
Childhood friend Craig Hall, 27, said: "He had a heart of gold and is one of those people who would do anything to help you.
"He was a lovely man and we are all just devastated he has gone."
Online tributes to Mr Camplin have also been set up.
One reads: "You made your family so proud, and are going to be truly missed by many.
"Gone but never forgotten and always in our hearts."
Mr Camplin was a former student at Rastrick High School and was a mechanic in Leeds.
