A SENIOR restaurant worker has been sacked after an F-word insult was printed on a family's dinner bill.
Dad Craig Cartin could not believe his eyes when he was presented with the £31.75 chit at the newly-opened Cactus Joe's in Halifax centre.

After itemising the food they had eaten, the bill, which is pictured below, was signed off with the typewritten words: "Thank you littell ******." The restaurant has since apologised unreservedly and the owner has visited the family.

Craig, 34, and wife Kimberley took daughters Molly, two, and Megan, one, to the Mexican restaurant as a treat.

Molly became agitated after waiting nearly 30 minutes for her meal and Craig said it was obvious that staff were annoyed. He thinks the abuse was aimed at her. Craig, of Plymouth Grove, Pellon, Halifax, claimed the meal was indifferent but said to be subjected to a Gordon Ramsay-type outburst was "unbelievably offensive."

Craig went on: "Molly was a bit grumbly but her behaviour was not
terrible – so this was just uncalled for." He added: "Presumably they had meant to delete the insult before printing the bill, but it's still no excuse.

"I consider myself a fairly easy-going guy but this was too much – it's awful behaviour."

Also left on the end of the bill were various comments, including: "not decided on pudding" and "remember cheese."

Then came the sign-off: "Thank you littell ******".

Mrs Cartin, 25, added: "I don't know what they were thinking. It was out of order."

The meal cost £31.75 – and Craig settled the bill in full.
The family have since been given a full apology by restaurant owner Steve Ryan.

He has visited them to say sorry and a member of staff has been sacked.
Mr Ryan said: "This was absolutely inexcusable and it won't be tolerated.

"The person involved has been sacked and I am planning on consulting my lawyers to see if I can take further action against her.

"I have visited the customer involved and invited him to be our guest this weekend. We offer unreserved apologies."

The incident has rounded off a bumpy first fortnight for the restaurant.

After opening on Friday, August 28, it had to close just days later because the gas supply was inadequate, causing dozens of cancellations.

It was opening again today.
