THIS may just be a clump of straw at the moment.
But day patients and nurses at Overgate Hospice will be transforming this bale of straw into an Alice In Wonderland inspired scarecrow in time for the eighth Norland Scarecrow Festival.

There will be a literary theme to this year's event, which runs from September 5-9.

This year the Norland Scarecrow Committee has chosen Overgate as its sponsored charity.

Community fund-raiser Laura Ramsden said: "Our Alice In Wonderland theme was thought up by volunteer Bev Colclough and we think we will be creating an Alice and a rabbit."

It'll take more than a Scarecrow to scare the Princess!!

We take the kids to this event every year. Have a wander round - try to solve the clues - never get anywhere with them but thats another story.
We have a great time pop into one of the lovely pubs for spot of lunch and generally contribute something to the village church fund as we go. I think the best theme they've done was the disney one i've some ace photo's of those scarecrows!
Well done to all the Norland residents taking part & for helping such a worthy cause.

ryburn / fiona will avoid norland whilst the scarecrow festival is on, just in case she is mistaken for one of them, possibly the mad hatter?
