THE ROYAL Navy dropped in – literally – to meet children from a Calderdale school.
All 270 pupils at Ripponden Junior and Infant School watched as the giant Sea King Mark VII hovered overhead before touching down in the playground for a recruitment afternoon.
It was the second year running that the school got a visit from a Royal Navy chopper.
The visits were set up by former pupil Lt Frazer Cumming, who serves with 854 Naval Air Squadron.
Acting deputy head Lucy Taylor said: "All the children watched from the hall as it took off. They had a fabulous time."
The Sea King is primarily used for search and rescue, submarine tracking, air surveillance and troop transport.
