A DISABLED man was beaten to the ground by a gang of youths including two girls.
David Wade, who is paralysed down one side of his body and suffers with epilepsy, was strangled and kicked with such force he blacked out as the four laughing teenagers attacked him.
It was only when the group realised the 51-year-old was carrying no money they walked off – leaving him dazed and bruised on the ground.
Cars drove past Mr Wade, who walks with a limp and cannot use his left arm, during the attack and did not stop even as he struggled to his feet.
He said: "I was walking to the chemist minding my own business when they attacked like a set of feral animals.
"What is disgusting is that not one of those cars stopped but it was clear what was going on, a man was being savaged in broad daylight and they just drove by - what if it had been someone who hadn't survived?"
The attack finally stopped when the two girls told the boys to leave Mr Wade, of Rugby Drive, Ovenden, Halifax, alone.
He said the incident, which happened on Keighley Road, Ovenden, at about 4.30pm on Friday, had given him nightmares: "I'm terrified to go out. I don't want to leave the house. I don't know why they did this. I don't know these kids from Adam."
Police described the assault as "despicable".
They appealed for witnesses to the incident and described the two boys as white and in their late teens. One was wearing a grey top, jeans and a cap. The other had a blue top, jeans and dark hair.
They got off a bus, believed to be the 700, moments before launching the attack.
A police spokesman said: "All lines of inquiries are ongoing."
