LLOYDS TSB boss Eric Daniels is expected to visit Halifax shortly to see what he has bought.
The American has publicly praised the Halifax brand and is said to be keen to visit the Trinity Road headquarters and IT and the call -entre operations in Copley.

Halifax MP Linda Riordan said his visit couldn't come quickly enough.

"He should get here as soon as he can," she said.

"He must talk to employees and myself here in Halifax.

"Mr Daniels might get a nice surprise – everything is set up, it is a lovely place to live and work and the town is central." His spokeswoman said: "Halifax is clearly an extremely important centre for the HBOS Group and Mr Daniels yesterday publicly acknowledged the value of the Halifax brand, as the pre-eminent mortgage provider, and its people," she said.

"We are still in the very early days of the deal but Mr Daniels will no doubt look for an early opportunity to visit the operations in Halifax, although it is too early to say exactly when this will be." The takeover is expected to be discussed next week at the Labour Party Conference in Manchester.

Mrs Riordan is hoping an emergency motion will open the whole debate up to the conference.

And, on Tuesday, she will meet a Treasury minister, at which she expects a Lloyds TSB chief to attend.

  • Mrs Riordan has organised a public meeting about the crisis. It will be held at the Nalgo Bar, Northgate House, Halifax, on Thursday at 6.30pm.

the comments made by Linda Riordan and the courier are laughable. Courier saying "Reasons to stay in calderdale", Riordan saying Daniels must visit Halifax and see her (why?) and the town.
You can SMELL the fear behind these words. It's like a child asking for a favour from an adult, pleae, please, PLEASE keep the head office and data centre in Calderdale. Just let the proud institution of HBOS stand on its merit. If the assets and infrastructure are good enough in Halifax, they'll keep them. If not, or if it's more cost effective to move them, they'll move them. It's sad, but that's business. No amount of whinging and whining will stop that

Keep her away from him, she's the worst representative. This is the time to wheel out Howard to plead on our behalf.

at The Local sites don't let him talk to staff, don't let him ne'er a courier and don't let him see courier boards.

oh and make sure his browser wont look in here,

Well if Eric is visiting the HBOS sites in Halifax I will be looking forward to seeing him, as he will be more than likley be coming into our office. If i was a Lloyds TSB member of staff.. i would be worried after he has seen our infrastructure............... One of the best in the britsh banking sector.

#10 Not sure what you mean about the infrastructure. Is it the HBoS banking infrastructure you refer to? I hope not because even Hornby admits he got that wrong. He's not admitting much else mind you.

Poor service, poor products, poor reputation and poor management.. It really wasn't good. LTSB might help turn this around as it is perceived as a good Bank with a solid reputation.

Hopefully they will introduce some good banking practice especially around Retail.
