A HALIFAX man accused of flouting the no smoking ban in a pub pleaded not guilty.
Stuart Smith, 39, of Newlands Farm, Warley, appeared before Huddersfield Magistrates.

He was charged with allowing people to smoke at the College Arms, Huddersfield, and failing to display no smoking signs earlier this month.

The prosecution was brought by Kirklees Environmental Health department. Mr Smith refused to say in court why he denied the charges.

He was remanded on bail for a pre-trial review on February 29.

The pub, which is shut, is owned by Admiral Taverns, which has said Mr Smith was not the licensee of the pub.
