AN inventor whose unique buggy was stolen by thieves has told of his relief after it was recovered by police.
Chris Rusby can now look forward to being part of the film crew of Red Riding, a Channel 4 drama about the Yorkshire Ripper, after his Dazon 1100 was found in Greet-land.

Chris, of Rastrick, has spent the past year building the buggy which he drives for film makers when shooting action shots.

He discovered the vehicle had been stolen from his lock-up garage in Elland, on Wednesday morning but just hours later it was found.

"I was totally gutted," Chris, 32, said. "I'm self-employed and without the buggy I cannot work. It is my means to a living.

"I couldn't believe it when the police said they had found it. I didn't expect it to turn up but when I got that phone call I realised just how valuable it is to me."

Most recently, the buggy has been used by producers on Away Days, a film about football hooliganism in the 1970s which is due to be released in cinemas soon.

It has also been used to film an Adidas commercial and there is the possibility Chris and his buggy could be part of the film crew for the next James Bond film.

"It is one of a kind. There's nothing else like it and I'm in the process of getting the design patented," Chris said.

"It's got lots of unique parts to it which make it special. The theft would have been a big blow to me.

"I've spent every last penny on it during the last year and although it may not be worth a great deal money wise, it means a great deal to me personally."

Chris has worked in the film industry for more than 10 years and is now on the look out for more secure premises to keep the buggy.
