YOU can make 2009 the year you get fit. And the Courier is here to help.
Today we launch Join Our Club – a campaign to get Calderdale people more active and healthier over the coming year.

We'll offer advice and information. We'll tell you how others are progressing. And we'll encourage Calderdale people to be more active and get fitter. And it's all FREE!

Everyone can take part, whether you're taking up a new activity, trying healthy fresh recipes or starting a new exercise regime.

We want to hear about how you're getting on.

And we have launched a new community section to our website where you can register for our campaign, send us videos and pictures, and write about how you are growing healthier.

And in the Courier we want to hear about the walks you've been on, see pictures of the bike rides you've done and read about your favourite healthy recipes.

Throughout the year we will offering local sports clubs
the opportunity to invite people to attend free taster sessions – and the Courier will be covering these and lots of other events across the district.

We will also be inviting fitness, sport and healthy-eating experts to give their tips and answer your questions.

The campaign is being launched as Halifax receives £2 million as part of the Government's Healthy Towns Initiative.

Halifax has been picked as one of nine places in England to receive the money.

It will be spent helping people to adopt healthier lifestyles over the next two and a half years.

Teaming up with Calderdale Council and NHS Calderdale, the Join Our Club campaign will be reporting on how the project is progressing and how local people can get involved.

Do it now: Join Our Club!
