A YOUNG singer-songwriter will release his debut single next month – to coincide with being tipped for success by music paper the New Musical Express.
Jonjo Feather, 20, was spotted by the magazine during a series of gigs in support of new single I Suppose.

And to build on the success the youngster – who made one of his first live appearances at Sowerby Bridge's Puzzle Hall aged only 17 – will perform a mini-European tour taking in Manchester, London, Paris and Orleans.

Jonjo, of Myrtle Grove, Hebden Bridge, said: "It's such an exciting time and everything seems to be coming together.

"I'll be appearing in their new bands section then hopefully we can build on that because, even though everything is great, I'm ambitious and I want more people to hear my music."

The former Calder High pupil will release the single through Leeds-based label Dead Young Records, which recently signed him for a three-album deal.

The fruits of the partnership will be heard in the summer when the first album, a mix of pop, lo-fi and country, is scheduled for release.

He said: "It's great to be signed because it means I get to play my guitar all day which is a dream really.

"But I feel I've paid my dues. It's been a lot of hard work getting to this stage and it'll be a lot harder to go even further but I love it, I love being in the studio and I love being on tour,

"I couldn't imagine doing anything else."

I Suppose is released on CD and limited vinyl on April 14.

Well Done Jonjo....

Good to see someone doing well around here for a change, I know how hard it can be to get yourself noticed in this industry.

Keep it up.
