A DRINK-driver was caught nearly three times over the legal limit after being kicked out of his girlfriend's bed for snoring.
Heavy sleeper Steven Parkin, 32, decided to drive home despite having downed six pints because his noisy snores were keeping his girlfriend awake.
He was banned from driving for two years, fined £115 and ordered to pay £60 prosecution costs.
Ca
lderdale magistrates heard that Parkin, of Club Lane, Ovenden, Halifax, was stopped by police at 4am on July 12 following an anonymous tip-off.
Vince O'Malley, prosecuting, said he was found to have 96 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Paul Manning, for Parkin, said he left his car at a nearby pub after a drinking session and walked to his girlfriend's house.
He said: "It had not been his intention to drive the vehicle again that night.
"In the early hours of the morning his girlfriend woke him up because he was snoring heavily.
"This led to an argument where his girlfriend said words to the effect 'Why don't you sleep in your own bed if you can't sleep quietly?'"
Parkin, an operations manager at the Park Plaza Hotel, Leeds, returned to his car and drove away.
Mr Manning said his driving was not erratic.
Parkin was told he could reduce the driving ban by six months if he successfully completes a drink-driver rehabilitation course by November 13 next year.
