HALIFAX Rugby Union Club's medic is lacing up her running shoes in a bid to raise cash for new team medical supplies.
The Ovenden Park club had its funding cut when it was relegated to the National League 3 North at the end of last season.
So medical officer Terri Walker, 48, who is starting her second season at the club, decided to find another way to get money for new equipment – so she entered the Bupa Great Yorkshire Run.
Tomorrow Terri, who lives in Wakefield, will join thousands of runners on the 10k course around Sheffield to raise cash for a defibrillator machine as well as a gas and air system which, she says, will dramatically improve the medical care available to players.
She said: "I thought it would be fantastic way to raise money and get fit," she said.
The players have also been doing their bit by looking for personal sponsors for season, which kicks off today against Preston Grasshoppers at 3pm.
