NURSES having to switch hospitals say they are being left stranded with no way to get to work.
Staff at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary are having to work six-month rotations at each hospital as part of an overhaul of services.
Nurses could take a free shuttle bus which runs the seven miles between the two sites.
But it does not run in time for their shifts.
One nurse, who did not want to be named, said some people would have to get three buses just to make sure they got to work on time.
"It's a long journey between Halifax and Huddersfield," she said. "People who live right out in Holmfirth are going to have to come to Halifax to come to work.
"People are really upset about it. Nobody is listening to us." Nurses were also unhappy at having to move hospitals. "We want to have a say about where we work. They're treating us like children."
The bus runs from Huddersfield Royal Infirmary at 7.30am – half an hour after staff on the morning shift starts.
And the last bus leaves Calderdale Royal Hospital at 8.30pm, but late shift nurses do not finish until 9pm.
Halifax MP Linda Riordan said she has been contacted by several nurses. She said there should be a free service in place.
From next month all trauma surgery will be based at Huddersfield and all elective surgery will be at Calderdale.
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust organised the rotations so staff can keep their skills up to date.
Director of nursing Helen Thomson said there had been meetings with staff during the reorganisation and workers had ways of reporting concerns.
