POLICE called to a domestic disturbance had to use CS spray on a man to arrest him.
Michael Hickingbotham, 22, of Bentley Avenue, Lightcliffe, admitted resisting a police officer when he appeared at Calderdale Magistrates Court.

Nigel Hamilton, prosecuting, said Hickingbotham was arrested at a house in Elland after complaints from Samantha Sugden about a domestic incident.

He told police he would "kick off" if they tried to detain him.

Mr Hamilton said: "The defendant is 6ft 2ins, of heavy build, and was drunk and aggressive.

"He was warned he would be sprayed with CS spray. He tried to walk away but officers wrestled him to the floor."

No charges were brought against him for the assault.

Emily Price represented Hickingbotham. The case was adjourned until June for reports.
