DELAYS in resurfacing work mean further evening closures at one of Calderdale's busiest crossroads.
Roadworks at Hipperholme crossroads – one of the most important arteries into Halifax – have been going on for two weeks. Three of the junction's four corners are now complete.

But Calderdale Council says unexpected problems with communication cables on the Christ Church corner mean resurfacing has had to be postponed by a week.

It means the A644 Brighouse Road to Denholme Gate Road towards Shelf will be shut from 6.30pm to midnight for a further two weeks from September 1.

I think it's only closed while they are working, it's just a chicane to negotiate while they aren't working. But I have heard they've applied for a 1 week extension.

Problems with communication cables

Is that why the lights were out at Hipperholme junction this morning causing chaos ?
